Group for spouses and significant others of law enforcement officers
Small psycho-education group for spouses and significant others of law enforcement officers who are dealing with occupational stress and/or PTSD (post-traumatic stress disorder). Some of the topics that will be covered are signs and symptoms of occupational stress, stress and family life spillover, strengthening family resilience, treatment options, identification of support systems, effective communication, and the psychological aspects of police work.
The course is being offered by LeAnne Renteria and will be held in Minneapolis.

LeAnne Renteria has over ten years of law enforcement experience including working as a patrol officer, field training officer, and three years in investigations. LeAnne has a BA and MA in Human Services with an Emphasis in Family Life Education from Concordia University in St. Paul. LeAnne has also completed additional coursework at Adler Graduate School. She currently works for Rasmussen College and has been teaching in the Human Services and Criminal Justice Programs for over five years. LeAnne also works for Pathways Counseling Center as a Mental Health Practitioner working with individuals in the community who are suffering with mental illness. She practices therapy with police officers and co-facilitates a psycho-education group for police officers suffering with post-traumatic stress disorder. She is currently working towards her state license in Marriage and Family Therapy. LeAnne and her husband, who is an active police officer, have been married for twelve years and have four children.
